Contract staffing services
Add people for a season or a project without adding their liability to your rolls. We engage the associates, carry their PF, ESIC, TDS and Professional Tax, and close each exit properly.
- Statutory liability off your books
- Tested employment and deputation contracts
- PF, ESIC, TDS and PT remitted
- Clean exits at assignment end

How it works
Three parties, one assignment
Each party in a contract staffing arrangement has a defined job. You decide the work, we carry the employment and the compliance, and the associate does the work on written terms.

Decides the work
Your company
- Sets the roles, numbers and duration
- Raises or lowers headcount as workload changes
- Assigns the day-to-day work
Carries the employment and compliance
NK One
- Issues employment and deputation contracts
- Registers associates under PF and ESIC
- Runs salary administration and remits PF, ESIC, TDS and PT
- Closes each engagement when the assignment ends
Does the work on written terms
The associate
- Works on a short-term, fixed-term, non-core or clerical role
- Holds an employment contract and deputation terms
- Is registered under PF and ESIC as the law requires
- Is paid with statutory deductions made and remitted
The cost of non-compliance
Who answers when an associate is short-changed
When people work for you through another firm, the Codes still look to you if their wages or contributions go unpaid. We carry that risk on our own rolls.
Exposure under the law
Source
Full wages
if the contractor defaults
01Unpaid wages
The principal employer must pay wages a contractor fails to pay, in full or the balance, and recover them from the contractor.
OSH Code, 2020, s.55(3)
Both shares
of ESI, for every worker
02Contributions
ESI is payable for every employee engaged through a contractor, and PF paid for them is recovered from the contractor. If the contractor defaults, the cost lands with you first.
Code on Social Security, 2020, s.17(1), s.31(1) and s.31(6)
₹2–3 lakh
plus up to ₹2,000 a day
03An unlicensed supplier
Taking contract labour from a contractor who needs a licence and has none is a contravention by the principal employer.
OSH Code, s.54 and s.94
Your duty
not the contractor's
04Welfare facilities
The welfare facilities the Code requires must be provided to contract labour by the principal employer.
OSH Code, s.53
Why NK One
Every filing, zero penalties.
Every associate's wages, PF, ESIC, TDS and Professional Tax are paid on time from our rolls, so none of it comes back to you as a liability.
Zero-penalty guarantee
No late fees, no interest, no surprise demands on anything we file for you. Every due date is tracked by people who have done this for 20 years.
Direct partner access
Since 2007, clients speak to the partners who run NK One, not a new compliance executive learning on your account.
When it fits
Where contract staff make sense
The arrangement suits work that is incidental to your business but still matters to how it runs. These are the cases we staff.
Seasonal peaks
Retail, hospitality and event businesses add people for the busy period and release them after it, without permanent hiring.
Short-term projects
A project with a start and an end date is staffed for that period, then wound down.
Fixed-term roles
Engagements for a fixed term, on contracts that state the term and the statutory benefits from the start.
Non-core and clerical work
Clerical positions and other work outside your core activity, filled without adding to your own headcount.
Common mistakes
Where temporary staffing goes wrong
Temporary does not mean exempt. Most problems with contract staff come from treating a short engagement as too short to bother with.
Mistake 01 of 04
No written terms
The OSH Code requires an appointment letter for every employee, temporary or not. Without one, the terms of a short engagement are whatever each side remembers.
How we prevent it
Every associate receives a legally tested employment contract and deputation terms.

FAQ
Questions about contract staffing
Can't find your answer? Ask us on WhatsApp and we'll reply within 2 working hours.
What is contract staffing?
An arrangement in which people are engaged on a temporary or contract basis to match a changing workload. You set the roles and numbers. We engage the associates and handle their pay and statutory compliance.
Which roles can be filled through contract staffing?
Roles on short-term and fixed-term projects, seasonal positions, non-core activity and clerical positions. Businesses whose demand rises and falls, such as retail, hospitality and event management, use it most.
Who handles PF and ESIC for contract staff?
We do, as part of the service. Associates are registered under PF and ESIC, and contributions are remitted on time along with TDS and Professional Tax.
Are fixed-term employees entitled to gratuity?
Yes. Under the Code on Social Security, 2020, a fixed-term employee who completes one year of service under the contract is eligible for gratuity, without the usual five-year minimum. We account for it in salary administration.
What happens when an assignment ends?
The exit follows a simple, standard procedure, so the engagement is closed properly for you and for the associate.
What does contract staffing cost?
It depends on the number of associates, the roles and the length of the engagement. Send us an enquiry with those details and we will come back with a quote.
