If staff work on a holiday
- Pay or time off
- At the employee's option, twice the wages, or wages for the day and a substituted holiday with wages on one of the three days before or after the day worked.
- Time limit for the day off
- Within 90 days of the day worked

- Notice must be sent to the Inspector when an employee is made to work on a holiday.

- Fine up to ₹150 for the first offence and up to ₹750 for a second or later offence (section 9).
Shops and establishments follow the Andhra Pradesh Shops and Establishments Act, 1988, as applied in Telangana: five national holidays (including 1 November, AP Formation Day) and four festival holidays, nine in all, with a compensatory holiday within 30 days.
